Given : The function h(d)=2d+4.3 relates the height (h) of the water in a fountain in feet to the diameter (d) of the pipe carrying the water in inches.

To Find : h(1.5) and interpret your solution in the context of the problem.

value of d when h(d)=10.3 and interpret your solution in the context of the problem

Solution.

Function

h(d)=2d+4.3

d = 1.5

h(1.5) = 2(1.5)+4.3

= 3 + 4.3

= 7.3

When pipe diameter is 1.5 inch then height of water is 7.3 feet

h(d) =10.3

2d + 4.3 = 10.3

2d = 6

d = 3

For 10.3 feet fou tain height , diameter of pipe required.is 3 inch
