Pooters. A pooter is a small jar used for collecting insects. It has two tubes - one goes into your mouth so you can apply suction, and the other goes over the insect so that is sucked into the jar. A fine mesh over the end of the first tube stops you swallowing the insect.

Insects collecting is done using a small jar called a pooter.

  • Pooter is a bottle with a tube.
  • The one who is catching the species holds one end of this bottle in his mouth.
  • Then, the pressure caused by the suction of the user the insect will move upwards through the other side of the tube.
  • The insect will enter a trapped area.
  • Pooter got the name 'pooter' from the American entomologist William Poos.
  • Pooters help to collect small insects very easily.
