The cost price of an article is Rs. 7600 when selling an item for Rs 9600 results in a gain that is twice as large as selling it for Rs 6600.

Given that,

Selling an item for Rs 9600 results in a gain that is twice as large as selling it for Rs 6600 results in a loss.

We have to find what is the article's Cost price.

We know that,

Assume that the article's cost price is CP and that the loss is L.

The profit of the article = 2L

Then

CP + 2L = 9600

CP = 9600 - 2L  -----------> equation(1)

Now,

CP - L = 6600

CP = 6600 + L  ------------>equation(2)

By equating the equations

9600 - 2L = 6600 + L

L + 2L = 9600 - 6600

3L = 3000

L = 1000

Then CP = 6600 + 1000 = 7600

Therefore, The cost price is Rs. 7600.
