The galvanised article is
protected against rusting even if the zinc coating is broken. Can you
reason this out?

it creates a layer of protection upon the iron articles and prevents it from being oxidised and form ferrous hydroxide or so called rust.
Basically it cuts off the contact of the article with oxygen,isn't it simple☺️?
