2 KMnO4 + 16 HCl => 2 KCl + 2 MnCl2 + 8 H2O + 5 Cl2

Thus in this reaction Chlorine gas is liberated.

Chlorine gas is produced in the lab using HCl HydroChloric acid and K MnO4, Potassium Permanganate.

16 H Cl + 2 K Mn O4 ==> 2 K Cl + 2 Mn Cl2 + 8 H2O + 5 Cl2 (g)
Balance the equation.

Some water may also be produced as vapor due to heat produced.
