Gas exchange is the process where by water vapour and oxygen leaf and carbon dioxide and plants leaves. On balance, therefore, plants use carbon dioxide and produce oxygen. stomata and Guard cells. The gases move into and out of the plants through specialised opening which is known as Stomata located along the lower surface of the leaf.

The basic mechanism of gas exchange is diffusion across a moist membrane. Diffusion is the movement of molecules from a region of Greater concentration to a region of lessons concentration in the direction following the concentration gradient.
