the general electronic configuration of p block element is ns2np1-6. but the electronic configuration of gallium ends with 4s2 3d10 4p1. here d is coming between s and p which is not correct as per the general equation.pls tell me how is it possible.very urgent

according to Aufbau principle, the electron first enters into lower energy orbital. the energy of the orbital is measured with (n+l) values.
(n+l) value of 4S orbital = 4+0 =4
n+l value of 3d orbital = 3+2 =5
(n+l) value of 4p orbital = 4+1 =5
3d, 4p orbitals have same energy, the the electron enters into the orbital which one has low n value. Due to this the electron enters into 3d before 4p orbital.
