A) Outer Membrane.

B) Inner Membrane.

C) Cristae.

{Functions:}

  • Outer membrane is just like Cell membrane. It has porins to allow smaller proteins in and protein complexes to allow bigger proteins in.
  • Inner membrane membrane surrounds the mitochondrial matrix, where the citric acid cycle produces the electrons that travel from one protein complex to the next in the inner membrane.
  • Cristae provide a scaffold for the molecular machinery that produces chemical energy that the cell can use.
