By pythagoras theoram we will take out the side AC.

since BCD is an equilateral triangle then DB=8cm,BC=8cm,CD=8cm.

Now we have to find the area of shaded portion i.e. triangle ABD.

we know the value of BA

BD=8

AD=8 (as AC=16 And DC=8 therefore AD=8)

Now we know all the three sides then we can find the area of the shaded region i.e.triangle ABD

formula of area of triangle=sum of all it's side

therefore AB+BD+AD=area of shaded region.
