The given figure shows a small garden. The shaded is reserved for planting flowers and rest of the area is for grass. Find the ratio of the area of the garden reserved for planting flowers to area reserved for planting grass.

Answer :

Given :

  • Length of the garden = 12 m.

  • Width of the garden = 5 m

Explanation :

Area of the garden = length × width

➡️ 12 × 5

➡️ 60 m²

  • length of the region left for flowering = 12 - 4 = 8 m

  • Width of the region left for flowering = 3 m

Area of the region left for flowering = length × width

➡️ 8 × 3

➡️ 24 m²

Area of the region left for grass = Area of the garden - Area of the region left for flowering

➡️ 60 - 24

➡️ 36 m²

ratio of the area of the garden reserved for planting flowers to area reserved for planting grass = 24:36

➡️ 24÷12/36÷12

➡️ 2/3

➡️ 2:3
