Answer: angle 1 is equal to angle 2 (given) so by angle sum property of triangle , angle 1 +angle2+58 degree =180.so let angle 1 be x than angle 2 is also x, x+x+58=180, 2x=180-58=122 degree. So x =122/2=61.so angle 1 =angle2=61 degree.

And by linear angle property than angle1+angle3=180 , 61+angle 3= 180

Angle 3 = 180 -61=119. And angle 4 will be also 119 because 1 and 2 are equal so 3 and 4 will be equal.

Given :  a figure showing Two parallel lines cut by transversal line .

To Find :  Sum of ∠1  & ∠ 2

Solution:

Two parallel lines cut by transversal line .

Properties of angles formed by transversal line  with two parallel lines :

• Corresponding angles are congruent.

• Alternate angles are congruent.  ( Interiors & Exterior  both )

• Interior angles on same side are supplementary. ( adds up to 180°)

Here ∠1  & ∠ 2 are  Interior angles  on same side

hence ∠1  + ∠ 2 = 180°
