River godavari takes it's orgin at mahabaleshwar of western ghats and flows towards eastern side and empties in bay of bengal. Because the South India is tilted little bit towards eastern side. that's why the rivers orginated in the western ghats will flow towards the eastern side.

Because of the following factors, the Godavari flows from west to east:
- The direction of the river's flow is influenced by the geographical conditions surrounding it.
- The Godavari River rises in Maharashtra's Western Ghats and flows through the Deccan Plateau before emptying into the Bay of Bengal.
- The following are the two key geographical elements that influence the Godavari river's flow:
- Because of the high range of mountains towards the west, the river flow is obstructed.
- The Deccan plateau is lower than the Western Ghats and leans slightly to the east.
- The Godavari flows from west to east towards the Bay of Bengal for these reasons.
