River godavari takes it's orgin at mahabaleshwar of western ghats and flows towards eastern side and empties in bay of bengal. Because the South India is tilted little bit towards eastern side. that's why the rivers orginated in the western ghats will flow towards the eastern side.

Answer:

Godavari river is the longest river in peninsular India. Its total length is 1,465 km. The source of the river is the Trimbak plateau of North Sayahadri near Nasik in Maharashtra. Below Rajahmundry the river divides itself into two main steams the Gautam Godavari on the east and the Vashishta Godavari on the west and forms a large delta before it pours into the Bay of Bengal.
