Hazardous waste is defined as any waste that poses a risk to human health or the environment due to properties such as physical, chemical, biological, reactive, poisonous, combustible, explosive, or corrosive. It includes trash created during the manufacturing processes of commercial items such as industries involved in petroleum refining, pharmaceutical manufacture, petroleum, paint, aluminium, and electronic devices, among others.

The following are the State Government's responsibilities for ecologically sound waste disposal of hazardous and other wastes:

• Establishing/allocating industrial space or sheds for recycling, pre-processing, and other uses of hazardous or other trash.
• Workers working in recycling, pre-processing, and other useful operations must be registered.
• To develop worker groups in order to simplify the establishment of such facilities.
• To carry out industrial skill development operations while also ensuring worker safety and health.
