The gradient or slope of thedistance-time graph at any point gives the speed of an object.
The speed of an object is the distance covered by it in a specific period of time.
Since, tanØ defines the slope of the graph, We have tanØ= y2-y1/x2-x1
Also, y-axis =distance and x-axis=speed
So taking, s1 at time t1 and s2 at time t2, then using the formula of the slope, s2-s1/t2-t1=Distance/time=speed
Hence slope of the distance-time graph gives speed.
