The gram atomic mass of carbon is 12gm and that of oxygen is 16gm . Calculate the gram molecular mass of carbon dioxide?

Answer:

Given, atomic mass of oxygen = 16 gm

Atomic mass of carbon = 12 gm

We know that,

Molecular formula of carbon dioxide is CO2

Therefore molecular mass = mass of carbon ×1 + mass of oxygen × 2

Molecular mass = 12 × 1 + 16 × 2

= 12 + 32

= 44 gm
