Explanation:

Gram panchayat is a democratic structure at the village level in India. It is a political body acting as justice in the villages of India. And Gram Sabha is the general body of Gram Panchayat with electing the members of Gram panchayat as one of the roles of it.

The main function of Gram Panchayat are:

  • Repair and maintenance of public goods like road, bridges , pubic buildings
  • Organising social activities like Ganesh puja
  • Do a inexpensive justice to the people of the village
  • represent the village as a whole

The election for the member of Gram panchayat is almost same like electing the political leaders of India as a whole. The member have to represent themselves and people of the village have to vote them according to their goodwill.

The Gram panchayat have to remember that they have to work for the people of village who have trusted them to be a good leader and will look after them as the people of India trust the political leaders while giving them the position of power.
