The above question has been taken from the story "Portrait of a lady" by "Khushwant Singh" which is included in the curriculum of class 11th CBSE.

The Grandmother was a religious lady . She did not like the kind of education imparted to the author in the English school because there ware no spiritual teachings in the English school . The education was modernised and science was taught in the school .

Also , the music subject was included in the studies . Grandmother disliked music to be a part of education because she thought it as an activity of harlots and beggers and not of respected people .

The western way of teaching also made the Grandmother upset .
