This question is from the Hornbill's Chapter-1 The Portrait of a Lady by Khushwant Singh.

The author's grandmother was interested in his education; at village she used to accompany him to the school; at home she helped him with his subjects. When they moved to the city, she was as much interested in his education, though she could not help him much in his studies as she didn't know science, math, or English. She was extremely disturbed when she came to know the city school did not teach him about God.

For grandmother education without God was meaningless. She had her own perception. We can't call it misplaced concern.
