Given:

Velocity-time graph is given.

To find:

Displacement in 20 seconds ?

Calculation:

  • Displacement is calculated as NET AREA UNDER V-T GRAPH.

  • Let displacement be 'd':

  • Net area will be Area(Left Trapezium) - Area(Right Trapezium)

 \rm d = \{ \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (12  + 6) \times 10 \}  -  \{ \dfrac{1}{2}  \times (8  + 6) \times 10 \}

 \rm \implies d = \{ \dfrac{1}{2}  \times 18 \times 10 \}  -  \{ \dfrac{1}{2}  \times 14 \times 10 \}

 \rm \implies d = \dfrac{180}{2}   -   \dfrac{140}{2}

 \rm \implies d = 90 - 70

 \rm \implies d = 20 \: m

So, net displacement is 20 metres.
