Hey,

Question :-

The graph given below shows the graph of equation y = 3x +1. What will be the value of y when x is 5?

Solution :-

When x = 5

So, y = 3x + 1

y = 3 × 5 + 1

y = 15 + 1

y = 16

Further Information :-

1. A statement of equality of two algebraic expression, which involve one or more unknown quantities is known as equation.

2. A linear equation is an equation which involves linear polynomial.

3. A value of a variae which makes the two sides of the equations is called the solution of the question.

4. ax + by + c = 0 a ≠ 0 b ≠ 0 or any one from a and b can be zero is the general form of linear equation in two variables.

5. Put the value of x (or y) = 0, 1, -1, 2, -2

,...., we get values of y (or x). By this we can find many solutions of the given equation.

6. Graph of linear equations

Step 1 :- Obtain a linear equation, let the equation be ax + by + c = 0

Step 2 :- Express y in the terms of x to obtain y = -(ax + c/b)

Step 3 :-Give any two values to x and calculate the corresponding values of y from the expression in step 2 to obtain two solutions, say (a¹, ß¹) and (a²,ß²). If possible take values of x as integers in such a manner that the corresponding values of y are also integers.

Step 4 :- Plot points (a¹, ß¹) and (a²,ß²) on a graph paper.

Step 5 :- Join the points marked in step 4 to obtain a line. The line is the graph of the equation ax + by + x = 0.

Hope That Helps :)

Answer:

y = 16

Step-by-step explanation:

Gven equation:

y = 3x + 1

ATQ, we need to finf the value of y when x is 5

So putting the value of x in the equation, we have–

y = 3(5) + 1

or \: y = 5 + 1

or \: y = 16

Therefore, the value of y will be 16 and the coordinates are (5,16)

I hope this helps!
