During first four seconds, graph is a straight line making some angle with X axis . This means that body is moving with uniform speed.

From a distance time graph, to find speed, you need to find slope.

Slope = Change in y coordinate divided by change in x coordinate

During first 4 seconds,

Slope = (75-0)/(4-0) = 75/4 = 18.75

So, speed is 18.75 m/s for first 4
seconds.

QGP: In the given figure, graph is a straight line parallel to x axis from t=4 s to t=14 s. So the body remains stationary for ∆t = 14-4 = 10 s
QGP: So, answer for part (b) is 10 seconds
QGP: c) The graph doesn't represent a realistic situation. Here's why:
QGP: The body is stationary till 14 seconds. The graph means that at t=14 seconds , time moves in backward direction till t=10 s and the distance decreases to zero
QGP: Both conditions are not possible
QGP: First, distance travelled can never decrease. (Displacement can decrease and become zero. But distance cannot)
QGP: Next, time cannot move in backward direction.
QGP: So, the graph doesn't represent a realistic situation.
QGP: I hope I have answered your question. If you have any doubts, feel free to ask
DevasyaSharma: Tysm..!!
