Given :- The graph of equation y = 4x is a line ………………..*

1) parallel to x-axis

2) parallel to y-axis

3) perpendicular to y-axis

4) passing through the origin .

Answer :- 4) Passing through the origin .

Explantion :-

Put x = 0,

→ y = 4 * 0 => y = 0,

put x = 1,

→ y = 4 * 1 => y = 4

so, graph of equation y = 4x passes through (0,0) and (1,4) .

from image we can conclude that, the graph of equation y = 4x is passes through origin(0,0) .

Given :   The graph of equation y = 4x is a line

To find : Correct option

1 parallel to x-axis

2 parallel to y-axis

3 perpendicular to y-axis

4 passing through the origin

Solution:

equation y = 4x

comparing with

y = mx  + c

m = 4  and c = 0

m = 4 is the slope of line

line is  parallel to x-axis  if slope = 0 hence not possible

parallel to y-axis  if slope = 1/0 hence not possible

perpendicular to y-axis means  parallel to x-axis   Hence if slope = 0  so Not possible

c = 0  Means line intersect y axis at 0

Hence passed through point ( 0 , 0)  origin

passing through the origin is correct answer

y = 4x

x = 0  => y = 4(0) = 0  Hence ( 0  , 0) is on the line y = 4x

The graph of equation y = 4x is a line  passing through the origin
