- The y-intercept of y=mx+b is (0,b) . The y-intercept of y=3x−1 is (0,−1) . So draw a point there. Then, since the slope is 3 , go right 1 unit and up 3 and draw another point at (1,2) . Then use a straight edge and connect the dots.
