the great dictator movie review

A scary satire of it's time that I am 100% Chaplin knew he had to make. Chaplin does a wonderful job balancing the classic moments we've grown to love in all of his classic silent flicks, but kicks it up a notch with this mockery of one of history's worst dictators. He pokes fun, demonstrates many of the truths during this time period in history, and then goes in for the kill at the end of the film. The ending speech is one of the most moving speeches in film to date. Satire through and through. One can't help but wonder which satirical films gathered some experience and influence for their creation, aside from the obvious societal influences. I watched this film way late, (it's a mere 80+ years old now) but it manages to remain timeless. Highly recommended!!!
