x be greater than y

x = 42 + y ........... 1

x + y = 10 .......... 2

Substitute equ. 1 in equ. 2

( 42 + y ) + y = 10

42 + 2y = 10

2y = -32

y = -16

x = 42 + ( -16 )

= 26
