Given :

  • 7m = 700 cm
  • 3m 85cm = 385 cm
  • 12m 95cm = 1295 cm

To find :

The greatest possible length which can be used to measure exactly given length

Formula used :

HCF by prime factorization

Solution :

For finding greatest length, we must find the HCF of given number.

Prime factor -

700 = 2×2×5×5×7

385 = 5×7×11

1295 = 5×7×37

Therefore HCF of 700 , 385 , 1295 = 5×7

HCF = 35

This means that 35cm is the maximum length which can be used to measure 7m , 3m 85cm & 12m 95cm exactly
