Shēr Shāh Sūrī founded the Empire of Suri dynasty in the northern part of India. He ruled for seven years from 1538 to 1545, he installed a new public and military authority. He divided his empire into 42 Sarkars, which were further subdivided into Parganas. He initiated several reforms in the economic system of the empire which includes the system of tri-metal(later adopted by the Mughals), the introduction of land survey method, and the collection of revenue directly from the peasants. He extended the Grand Trunk Road. All these reforms done by him in various fields proves him as the great emperor of India.
