Answer:
The Green Revolution was one of the agricultural reforms introduced by the Government of India to improve Indian agriculture in the 1960s and 1970s. It introduced Modern Farming Methods with high doses of HYV seeds, chemical fertilisers, pesticides, insecticides etc. At the time, this proved extremely beneficial and showed drastic improvements in yield.
However, it is now being discovered that it actually has a lot of negative affects on soil fertility, life of micro-organisms, ground-water etc. It is not a sustainable practice and deteriorates the quality of land.
Therefore, it is a boon as well as a bane.
