The Gupta empire was founded by Sri Gupta in 240-280 CE. Then his son Ghatotkacha, ruled the empire in 280-319 CE. Chandragupta I succeeded the empire in 319-335 CE. After marrying princess Kumaradevi of Magadh, he conquered many kingdoms and was called as 'king of Kings.
This period became known as the Golden Age of India because it was marked by extensive inventions and discoveries in science, technology, engineering, art, dialectic, literature, logic, mathematics, astronomy, religion, and philosophy.
