Answer:

HCF of (1/2,1/3) = HCF(1,1)/ LCM(2,3)

HCF (1/2,1/3)= 1/ 6

if we want to solve the same question for LCM then LCM(1/2,1/3)= LCM(1,1)/HCF(2,3)

LCM(1/2,1/3)= 1/1

= 1

Concept

The highest number that divides each of the two or more numbers is the HCF, or Highest Common Factor. The Greatest Common Factor (HCF) is also known as the Greatest Common Measure (GCM) or the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) (GCD).

Given

1/3 and 1/2

Find

We are asked to find the HCF of 1/3 and 1/2

Solution

By considering the given values

1/3 and 1/2

HCF = HCF of Numerator / LCM of denominator

HCF= 1/6

  • HCF of Numerator = HCF of 1 and 1 = 1
  • LCM of denominator= LCM of 2 and 3 =6

Hence HCF of 1/3 and 1/2 is 1/6
