Question :-

  • The H.C.F of the two numbers is 16 and their L.C.M is 48. One number is 16 then the other number is _____.

Solution :-

Given :-

  • H.C.F of the two numbers = 16
  • L.C.M of the two numbers = 48
  • One number = 16

To Find :

  • The other number .

\boxed {\tt {Other \: number =  \dfrac{H.C.F \times L.C.M}{One \: number}}}

 \implies { \sf{Other \: number =  \dfrac{H.C.F \times LCM}{One \: number}}} \\  \\\implies  { \sf{Other \: number = \dfrac{16\times 48}{16}}} \\  \\ \implies { \sf{Other \: number = 48}}

The other number is 48.

\rule {107}{1}

Some important formule :

\boxed {\tt {One\: number =  \dfrac{H.C.F \times L.C.M}{Other \: number}}}

\boxed {\tt {H.C.F =  \dfrac{One\:number \times Other\: number}{L.C.M}}}

\boxed {\tt {L.C.M =  \dfrac{One\:number \times Other\: number}{H.C.F}}}

\rule {307}{2}

Given,

  • H.C.F. of the two numbers = 16
  • L.C.M. of the two numbers = 48
  • One number  = 16

To find,

  • We have to find the other number.

Solution,

We can simply find the other number by using the following formula:

         H.C.F. * L.C.M. = one number * other number    (*)

H.C.F. of the two numbers = 16

L.C.M. of the two numbers = 48

One number  = 16

Let the other number be 'x'

Using (*) , we get

        16 * 48 = 16 * x

Shifting 16 from RHS to LHS, we get

  16 * 48/16 = x

              48 = x

The H.C.F of the two numbers is 16 and their LCM is 48. one number is 16 then the other number is 48.
