the half time period of a second order reaction is 90 minutes calculate the time required for its 60% completion

Given :-

Reaction time for second order = 90 minutes.

Time required = ?

We know the formula ,

t_1_/_2 = \frac{1}{K [100]}

90 = \frac{1}{K[100]}

K = \frac{1}{90 * 100}

k = 0.0001111

Now  , we know remaining reactant is 40 % so,

1/40 = 1/100 + 0.00011 t

1.1 × 10⁻⁴ t = 1/40 - 1/100


t = 0.015 / 1.11 × 10⁻⁴

t = 136.3 minutes.


Hence time required for the 60% completion is 136.3 minutes.
