Answer:

✴Tooth enamel:

Tooth enamel makes up the normally visible part of the tooth, covering the crown. It is a very hard, white to off-white, highly mineralised substance that acts as a barrier to protect the tooth but can become susceptible to degradation, especially by acids from food and drink. Calcium hardens the tooth enamel.

✴Conditions for corroding of tooth enamel:

It starts corroding due to acid formed in mouth. The food particles which are left in mouth form acids which cause tooth decay.

When the pH of our mouth falls below 5.5

This happens because the bacteria present in our mouth breaks down the sugar & food particles to acids which damage our teeth by corroding them.

Prevention of corrosion of tooth enamel:

Toothpaste and tooth powder are basic and neutralise acid formed in mouth which prevents tooth decay.
