Pisces have a double chambered heart with unidirectional blood flow.

Explanation:

Pisces have a less complex circulatory system, a two chambered heart with a unidirectional blood flow. Unidirectional blood flow (single circulation) makes the the circulatory system of fishes different from other organisms.

  • The heart is also known as venous heart.
  • The heart consists of a sinus venosus, atrium, ventricle and a bulbus. The deoxygenated blood (blood returning from circulation) enters the sinus venosus then flows the auricle which is then passed into the ventricle to be pumped from through the bulbus into the gills. Gaseous exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen happens in the gills it is then circulated throughout the body.
  • Other organisms have a four chambered heart and double circulation. But fishes have a simple circulatory system and it is has only one atrium and one ventricle and they follow single circulation.
