answer : enthalpy change at 25°C will be 669.28 Kcal

Chemical reaction of combustion of ethanol,

C₂H₅OH(g) + 3O₂(g) ⇒2CO₂(g) + 3H₂O(l)+ Q

∆n_g = number of moles of products - number of moles of reactants

= 2 -(3 +1) = -2

now, ∆n_gRT = -2mol × 2cal/mol.K × 298K

= -1192 cal

= -1.192 Kcal ≈ 1.2 Kcal

so, enthalpy change , ∆H = -670.48 Kcal/mol

now using formula, ∆H = ∆E + ∆n_gRT

⇒∆E = ∆H - ∆n_gRT

= -670.48 -(-1.20) = 669.28 Kcal
