Given info : The heater has a power of 1.5kW. The air in the room has a mass of 65 kg. The specific heat capacity of air is 720 J/(kg°C).

To find : the time it takes for this heater to raise the temperature of the air in the room from 8°C to 15°C.

solution : Mass of air, m = 65 kg

specific heat capacity of air, S = 720 J/Kg/°C

temperature change , ∆T = 15°C - 8°C = 7°C

so heat , Q = mS∆T

= 65kg × 720 J/kg/°C × 7°C

= 327600 J

now power = heat/time taken

⇒1.5 kW = 327600/time

⇒1500 W = 327600/time

⇒time = 218.4 sec

Therefore 218.4 sec takes for this heater to raise the temperature of the room from 8°C to 15°C.
