The height of a conical tent is 5m and radius of base is 12cm then find its slant height and the cost price of the canvas used to make the tent, if its price is rs.70 per square meter.

Solution:- Slant height of cone =

l {}^{2}  = h {}^{2}  + r {}^{2}  \\  =  > l =  \sqrt{h {}^{2  }  + r {}^{2} }  \\  =  > l =  \sqrt{5 {}^{2}  + 0.12 {}^{2} }   \\  =  > l =  \sqrt{25 + 0.0144}  \\  =  > l =  \sqrt{25.0144}  = 5 \: (approx)

Now Curved Surface Area of cone = πrl

 =  >  \frac{22}{7}  \times 0.12 \times 5 = 1.88 \: cm {}^{2}

Therefore cost of cavas used to make the tent = rate×area

=> 70 ×1.88

=> Rs.131.6
