The answer is 30 inches.

GIVEN

The height of a plant with the genotype AABB is

40 inches and that with the aabb is 20 inches.

TO FIND

Height of a plant with the genotype AaBb.

SOLUTION

We can simply solve the above problem as follows;

We know that the minimum height of the plant is given as = 20 inches

Genotype of the plant = aabb

So contribution of each allele = 5

Similarly,

Maximum height of plant = 40 inches

Genotype = AABB.

So, Contribution of each allele = 10inch

Height of plant with genotype AaBb = 2×10 + 5×2 = 30 inches.

Hence, The answer is 30 inches.
