Answer:254.47 cm^{2}

Step-by-step explanation:

In a right cone,

Vertical height (h) = 12 cm

Slant height (l) = 15 cm

We have,

l^2 = h^2 + r^2

⇒ r = \sqrt{l^2 -h^2 = \sqrt{15^2 - 12^2 = 9 cm

Since the base of a cone is a circle, so the area of the base = area of the circle

i.e. Area of the base = πr^{2} = π×9^{2} = 254.47 cm^{2}
