given , the distance between 6m and 11m poles is 12m

now the distance between top edges can be calculated by applying pythagoras theorem which has 5m and 12m as adjacent sides and the required length i.e, distance between the top of the poles as hypotenuse

\sqrt{5^{2}+12^2 } \\= \sqrt{25+144} \\= \sqrt{169} \\= 13

so the distance between top edges of the poles is 13 meters
