Camel has a long loop of Henle in its nephrons to conserve water.
The nephrons of camels are equipped with number of juxtamedullary nephron in very high amount along with a well-developed Henle’s loop.
The amount of juxtamedullary nephrons is around 35% which is much more than in human beings 15%. The Henle’s loop of juxtamedullary nephrons along with counter flowing blood vessels, which is called vasa recta, assist in conservation of water.
