None but common folk was recieved by the hermit .

The above sentence is in Passive voice . In passive voice the subject is placed at the ending of the sentence because it's not as much important as the object.

This way the object comes at the beginning sentence and gains more attention.

The difference between active and passive voice can be seen in the place of subject object and also with the use of preposition by .

How to change voice ?

  • Identify the subject and object .

  • Interchange their places .

  • Add or remove the preposition by before the subject according to the need.

  • Dont change the tense .

Examples :

  • She called me . - I was called by her .
