Because they have more efficient way to survive in extreme cold and the animal have blubber to protect themselves.

The following are the reasons in support of the statement that the Himalayas shelter a Hardy variety of mammals which survive in extreme winter:
1. The freezing altitudes of Ladakh are home to Yaks, the Tibetan antelope, the shaggy horned wild ox, the bharal (blue sheep), the king (Tibetan wild donkey) and the wild sheep.
2. In certain pockets, animals such as bears, the ibex, snow-leopard and red pandas are found.
3. Turtles, and the crocodiles are also found in the rivers, lakes and coastal areas.
