The Hockey Federation of India organized a friendly hockey match between India and Pakistan on a circular ground. The income of this match will be donated to an orphanage. Rectangular turf whose length is 40 m and breadth is 30 m is spread on the ground as shown in figure:- Find (i) What is the diameter (BD) of the circular park?

Given :-

• Length of Rectangular turf = 40 m.
• Breadth = 30 m .

To Find :-

• Diameter of the circular Park ?

Solution :-

from image we can see that,

→ ABCD = Rectangle .

→ AB = DC = 40 m .

→ CB = 30 m.

→ ∠DCB = 90° . (Each angle of a rectangle is equal to 90°.)

then, in Right ∆DCB, we have,

→ DC² + CB² = BD²

→ 40² + 30² = BD²

→ BD² = 1600 + 900

→ BD² = 2500

→ BD = √(2500)

→ BD = 50 m (Ans.)

Hence, The Diameter (BD) of the circular park is 50m.
