The Homecoming
The book that I read was called The Homecoming. This book was mainly about a family that was deserted by their mentally arranged mother and had to fend for themselves in this cold harsh world. They also had to learn about things that they should have learned about when they were in their adult years, but they helped each other during this time, and worked together to beat the odds.
But to get more detailed in the story The Tillerman kids' mother just left them one day in a car in a mall parking lot. Their father had also left them as well a long time ago. All they had left was $11, and this was supposed to last them. It was up to thirteen-year-old Dicey, the eldest of four, to take care of everything, make all the decisions, feed them, find places to sleep. But above all, Dicey would have to make sure to avoid the authorities whom would split them up and place them in foster homes. She had hoped they could find an adult they could trust, someone who would take them in and love them, but after all that she had been through, she really didn't think that this would ever happen.
The characters in this book were very well put together. They all had their faults, but they worked together to get the impossible done. The main characters in the book were Dicey, whom was the oldest, and therefore had the most responsibilities of taking care of the family.
