Answer:

V = √(a² + b²)

Explanation:

The horizontal and vertical displacements of a projectile are given as x=at and y=bt-ct² . then the velocity of projection is?

Let say Velocity = V

Horizontal Velocity = Vcosα

& Verticla Velocity = VSinα

Horizontal Distance = Vcosα  * t

=> at = Vcosα  * t

=> a = VCosα

Vertical Distance = Vsinαt - (1/2)gt²

=> bt-ct² = Vsinαt - (1/2)gt²

=> b = Vsinα

V²Cos²α + V²Sin²α = V²

=> (VCosα)² + (VSinα)α = V²

=> a² + b² = V²

=> V = √(a² + b²)
