  • Now, R will be maximum when  sin2\theta will be maximum.

  • Maximum value of sin is attained at an angle of  \dfrac{\pi}{2} .

  • Therefore,  sin2\theta will be maximum at  2\theta \:=\: \dfrac{\pi}{2} which gives  \theta \:=\: \dfrac{\pi}{4} .

  •  \dfrac{\pi}{4} \:=\: 45\degree .
