Dear Student,

◆ Answer - (iv)

The hormone administered by doctors to a pregnant woman to help in childbirth during the time of natural delivery is relaxin.

● Explanation -

  • In normal labour, relaxin is secreted by placenta which relaxes pelvic muscles and loosens uterine ligaments.
  • It also dilates cervix for easy expulsion of fetus.
  • It prepares the endometrium for action of oxytocin during contractions.
  • If the labour is not progressing as expected, doctors administer relaxin to help delivery.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you..
