The hot water in the tumblers slowly cools down. Is it because the cold is transferred from the water in the tumblers ?

Answer:

the tumbler and water makes a open system in which both matter and energy can transfer .

so when the water is kept in a tumbler it decipates the heat energy through the tumbler walls into the environment ,due to the temperature difference of water and atmosphere.

here the point to bhe noted is that ,

HEAT IS TRANSFERRED NOT THE COLD!!

HOPE IT HELPS ..
